Hi I’m Sylvia,

My role as Office Manager is one that is very varied and requires a high level of multi-tasking, juggling the demands of a busy office environment. It is my job to ensure the needs of the clients are met along with the needs of the team.

I started working in an accountancy practice in Leeds as PA to the senior partner in 1979 after attending Park Lane College in Leeds. However, after a number of years I decided I needed adventure and left Britain to travel. I subsequently spent 10 years as self-employed in the fashion industry, travelling the length and breadth of Greece selling garments made by small independent factories/designers for my bread and butter. In the height of the season I would take part in the industry fashion shows. This was a fantastic time to be in the Mediterranean and I soon became fluent in a difficult language often anecdotally described as “Double Dutch”.

On my return to Britain I started a number of fitness classes, and this is where I met Belinda. I started to work for Belinda in 2008 and over the years my knowledge of the accountancy practice has broadened. I am able to assist clients with all manner of queries providing information relating to their accounts and tax returns and also liaising on their behalf with H M Revenue & Customs. This is much appreciated by my colleagues as they are then free to get on with producing the accounts. My approach may sometimes appear unorthodox but I always get results!! AND if anything needs fixing I am handy with my screwdriver too!

I enjoy the aspects of credit control which involve collating the figures for productivity, turnover, and cash flow and the ABC team work hard to ensure we are on track every month! Here at ABC Accounting its challenging, fast paced, often eye-opening and I wouldn’t want it any other way!
